Need help finding a portable heater.

I am looking for some help in finding a small portable heater that has a setting that allows the fan to remain running as the heat cycles off and on. All that I am finding have a fan only or heat settings. Every time the heater cycles on and the fan starts it wakes me up. I am looking for one that has a seating so the fan runs constantly and heat cycles. The constant fan serves as a white noise. The smaller the unit is the better it is.

I have been known to re-wire a heater to do that. Usually you just need to move one wire and often the connection is there already (often it is not)

If you are good with electrical work.. You might check it out on one you already have.

The tech needn't have the aptitude of Robert Oppenheimer in order to do this. Safety is not compromised, and control is maintained over switching the fan on and off.

All my oil filled portable heater does is go CLICK every now and then... Heats up the area just fine... No fan required...

Also no burnt dust smell, no visible red hot core or flame, and perfectly safe to use after you go to sleep.

If I feel like I need a fan used with the heater I will sit one of these 10-inch O2COOL AC/DC/D-CELL fan behind it.

  • Go to Amazon and search for "Vornado". The fan runs constantly and is whisper quiet. When the temp drops the heat kicks in very quietly until it reaches the temp you have selected. Then it reverts to fan only. Been using one for 5 years and very satisfied with its performance and the way it distributes the heat evenly around our 31ft coach. I think I paid %79.
  • We have a white noise generator but the portable heater will still wake me up when it cycles.
I do like the thought of rewiring the heater so the fan stays on. But I was hoping someone has found one that has the capability to have the fan constantly running as an option.
  • I use a Buddy heater by Mr. Heater. It has no fan so it is silent. I removed the regulator and plumbed it into the low pressure side of my LP line.

If white noise is important there are devices that generate noise.
  • Take it to a handyman and have them reconnect the fan wire to the ON side of the power switch before power goes through the thermostat. The tech needn't have the aptitude of Robert Oppenheimer in order to do this. Safety is not compromised, and control is maintained over switching the fan on and off.
