Need help removing baggage door lock

The cylinder on our storage compartment lock fell out and it is in the locked position.

I have the new replacement lock. It is the kind with the handle that twists around to open it.

How can I remove this lock without crawling inside the other end of the pass through storage to unscrew it from inside there. Not thrilled about crawling in there!

  • The screw driver worked!! Got the hatch open to put in a new lock.

Thank you, saved me from crawling into the pass through to get to it. Too old for that!
  • The lock fell out somewhere on the freeway...who knows where it ended up. The cylinder was always loose.

Will try the screwdriver, that was what we where thinking unless someone had another idea before we tried that.

    Thanks!
  • If the lock just fell out, you should be able to insert it back in the hole with the key in the lock portion. If that fails, you should be able to stick a flat blade screwdriver in the hole, jiggle it up and down (or side-to-side depending on where the tumblers are) putting pressure in the direction of "unlock" while you're doing this and trip the lock. This is how crooks steel your car when the pop the steering lock.
