Need Mobile RV Mechanic near Vail, CO

Does anyone have a recommendation for a mobile RV mechanic near Vail, CO? My 5er is stuck in a Forest Service campground (that is now closed) because the main slide will not retract. At first the motor would make no noise at all. Then I tried the manual over ride which promptly broke. Winterized the trailer, hooked it up and moved it a little, and tried the switch again, and then you could hear the motor running, but it sounded like it was trying to extend the slide, and it did not matter which direction I pushed the switch.

Batteries are charged (and I tried it with generator power as well).
All breakers & fuses are fine

I would love to find a mobile RV mechanic that can come up there and take a look,. Otherwise, I guess I am heading back up myself later this week and will remove the sealed underbelly and see if I can find another way to manually retract the slide.

Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

  • I tried Terry. Seems like a good guy, but couldn't commit to getting there today, which is when I needed it.

No way to physically push the slide back in. It just won't work.

I ended up calling Tiger Run RV Resort in Breckenridge. They gave me the name of Michael Natale, Four Seasons Mobile RV Repair. He re-arranged his schedule and met me up there this am.

Turns out there was a breaker that I didn't know that I had that somehow tripped. In addition, the slide motor itself was bound up (probably from me trying to manually pull the slide in), and needed to be.......adjusted.

So, the trailer is home now. Still need to figure out how to fix the manual retraction should I need it again.
  • Have you tried to physically/manually push the slide back in? I agree with above that it sounds like a shear pin or similar.
  • Terry's RV Service. Nice guy. Saved my bacon last November on a furnace issue. Works out of Hartsel. I know he goes as far at Ledville. 719-221-1815

From your description. It sounds like a shear pin. Pretty easy fix depending on unit.
