A couple of old blankets will protect the roof well. I wonder if the plywood would damage the roof? A blanket under the plywood also works well.
With a pickup beside the RV, normally the bed is around 5' off the ground, so it is not to much higher to get to the RV roof, typically 11' off the ground? If you have a couple of 6' ladders, that will get you up to the roof, and I would suggest a pair of people on the truck/ladders, and someone already on the roof to steady it while the others can get up there to put it in place.
