Most all of the new cars have at least LED tailights. Others have LED daytime running lights (DRLs) too and a very few number of cars are trickling out with LED headlights. The tech is proven it's just that most folks exposure to LEDs is the cheap, chinese stuff. There are really good LEDs on the market (I use strictly Philips in my house but Cree is great too), you just have to pay for them. I don't mind experimenting with the chinese stuff in my RV as I don't live in it and they're cheap enough to throw away if it doesn't work BUT if I did there are still sources for good quality LEDs (well if I did live in my rig I'd convert it to 120V only).
