Yes I think it is higher flow.
Timing and running lean can be issues that add heat per some. My timing was done by ear so I am clueless what it is but expect it is closer to 8 than 4 from the power that it makes. Did you time from the top or bottom of the engine?
We only run premium because of the free power it gives. Pure gas is preferred but harder to find these days.
