My experience with Clutch fans on an 86 motorhome with a 454 was:
My stock one went out when I was on the road. The clutch fan started chucking roller bearings and decided to lock and unlock at random.
I found out that Clutch fans are designed to cut in at different temperatures.
If your engine has a 195 thermostat originally from the factory, then it has a 220-225 clutch fan.
My motorhome came with 180 degree.
I tried Hayden's HD clutch fans and they didn't work worth a darn, and never locked up.
I went to Chevy and ordered the exact replacement for the 86 chassis and cried over the $185 cost in 1994, but- it worked and was cutting in at 210 degrees.
I think the radiator is OK and is working fine because the oil and trans temps are good.
