New Hot water Heater

I purchased a new hot water heater for my older travel trailer .After seeing what they want to put it in I'm thinking I'm going to do it myself
My question is how hard are they to put put in an Atwood 6 gallon hot water heater

    Oughta be a STICKY about this!
    Atwood ===>> Atwood, or
    Suburban ===>> Suburban, not too bad.
    But crossing the brands can be nasty. For those watching at home, the long dimension of a Suburban is perpendicular to the coach wall and the opening is about square. But it sticks deeper into the coach than Atwood. Atwood's long dimension is parallel to the coach wall and the opening is rectangular. Doesn't stick as far into the coach as Suburban, but it needs more interior length.

    So... The issue CAN be more than just the hole in the wall, but the hole in the wall can be bad enough...
  • Replaced my Suburban 10 gallon one last year with the same model.....took me 2 hours from start to finish.
  • IF your OLD one was a 6 gal Atwood....same size opening

    If your Old one was a gas only pilot Atwood and new one is gas Only with electronic ignition you will need a DC circuit for the gas valve controls/ignition

    If your old one was an Atwood gas only and new one is gas/electric

    Your question is a bit like "How much rope is needed"

    Need to tie a knot or too hang someone :B

    THIS MANUAL COVERS ATWOOD WHs
  • Depending on location should only take you maybe an hour or so. Turn off gas, remove water lines from the back, unscrew the front flange and remove. Pull old one out. Swap the water and gas fittings. Slide the new one back in, connect everything and test.
