Good about actual facts above...
Lithium amp hour capacity ratings times 70% = reality
Then we have special monitoring and control circuits
Then we have special LIMITING charging parameters
Then we oh golly gee whiz...
Get an unexpected cold snap...
Ill tell you where lithium would work and it would work wonderfully.
On a large sailboat.
Where a few thousands of pounds of batteries would not be noticed.
Gang enough of them together...
And raise total amp hour capacity to Mars
And they could be recharged with a seriously large charging system
Several tons of ampacity for large, long duration loads
Cut the design capacity a little tight did we? Toss down another ton or two. A seventy foot sloop has lots of room down atop the keel. No one wants to access stuff down there anyway.
Oooooo a gigantic catamaran would be even "idealer". Two titanic banks, two engines, plus maybe a 20 Kw generator.
Or a remote homestead like mine. My gen shed could see STACKS, TIERS (!) of lithium. 70% usable amp hour rating? Big deal when you have, say, 20,000 rated amp hours and 16,000 watts available for recharging.
I am being sarcastic for a reason. Nothing I have written above is untruthful or deceptive. It is nothing less nor nothing more than FINDING the environment where a lithium battery will thrive. It gives the entire, perspective - something that seems to be missing in these discussions.
By the way all of those sarcastic "hotspots" are just that. I know of few cruising sailboats that seek polar bears or penguins and my place raises mangoes, coconuts and bananas.
