Typical module efficiency using conventional silicone/cadmium telluride-copper indium junction is being increased by connective construction and location of connectors. If you place smaller wires between cells and connect at non-interfering locations, the module efficiency can increase maybe 5% for usual module real estate.
It seems to me that current production tooling with better construction can yield better module efficiencies than a change in the junction materials. Of course, this is short term thinking but development of solar power is a sloooow process, anyway. The good news is that US solar power use has increased 110%/yr if conventional media can be trusted for those numbers.
