New TV (tel) No Work on DVD Player

Installing new Samsung tv, but before final, I plugged it all in. All works except existing non HD DVD player. Its playing fine on the old tv right now,....just 2 RCA plugs, LH audio, and video.
New tv appears to have the same "aud vid" jacks, w/ an added comp vid jack. I used LH audio and video jack, to no avail. I can't even get audio, leads me to believe its a "source (input) problem. I went thru all the sources, tv, pc, HDMI, component, etc etc, nothing but "no signal" and "no cable connected".
Any ideas ?? short of finding a 10 yr old kid to come fix it ??

PS open box special, no owners manual,.....not helping either

    None that I have ever seen. Other than 3/4 if you have a built in modulator and I have never seen that either.

    For the O/P... I would upgrade to a 3-cable hookup L R Video

    It may be it wants both sound channels

    My samsung takes A/V in just fine.. Just have to select it.

    I got it !!
    Had to use "composite video", and LH audio jack.
    I thought I did that, but must have had the white/red reversed.

    This is a new 22" Model ?? (have to look)
    It seems I'd be working w/ the A/V source, but I guess not ?
