Newby water heater question.

I just purchased a used 2006 Springdale 189 travel trailer with a Suburban sw6p water heater in it. Do you manually have to light pilot with a open flame(lighter)?
Are there any electrical connections running to this model,I haven't seen any? I can get the pilot to light manually and stay lit,but can't get the burner to ignite. I haven't filled the tank with water yet I was just trying to get burners to light to test it,would there happen to be a saftey device/switch that keeps burner from lighting if there is no water in tank? Thanks for the info. I'm sure I will have many more questions as I start using the camper.
  • should have inside switch(with red light next to it)inside the trailer. that ignites the propane. BUT you have to have 12v battery power and the propane flowing. ours is by the monitor panel for holding tanks and battery charge level.

outside, there's a vent hatch for the water heater. the electric side has a toggle switch inside that hatch. usually has a cotter pin in it.
DO NOT turn that on until you are sure the WH has water in it.
