Yes you can get 5000w from 12v input, just not from one battery, unless you only want it for a few seconds
I agree by half. Yes, you can get 5,000 watts from a 12 volt battery.
However unlike you I've seen some MONSTER 12 volt batteries. I mean these beauties would never fit in your motor home.. Also you can't pick 'em up either.. I used one once.. They made me "Field Day" Chairman (Amateur Radio Field Day) and I decided to go for the Battery Multiplier.. So I visited a comnpany I'd chatted with in the past, they reebuild batteries.. BIG ONES, and borrowed one of theirs, we used 10 percent running 3 2way radios for 24 hours.
The battery was loaded into my rented trailer by a fork lift.
The battery's twin powered the fork lift.
And that was not the biggest battery in the plant.
(Side note: They donated the use of the battery, but they did end up getting paid... Local TV station needed some good size (bigger than what you find at Wall*mart) batteries.. Well One of their Technbians is also a member of the same Ham Radio Club, in fact he was the NEXT FD chair.. He remembered where I got a big battery so he went shopping there.. Sure enough they had what he needed).
