Ni-Cad To Lithium Dr. Frankenstein Transplant?

I have a B&D VersaPak drill that's gotta be 30 years old. Dead NiCd battery. Wanted to get it going, found the drill, then the charger. Then... Found NiMh replacement batteries on Amazon. Same charger, drop in and go. Pleased so far.
