The fuse issue sure sounds rational. I was asked to diagnose a lamp failure in a Nissan Pathfinder. I had to check every danged fuse in 2 fuse boxes to find a blown 15 amp fused marked AUX. The idiocy must be premeditated to thwart other than professional repair service. I made up some 3156 bulbs with pigtails to backfeed signal voltage from the lamp side. Easier diagnostics but what a job to solder!
