no fresh water to the new shurflo pump

tanks full but no water . does anyone no how to get to the water tank of a 1993 hr aluma-lite xl. im guessing the line between tank and pump is plugged or colasped . cannot find a way to see the line so im planning to cut out some flooring under sink. have even tried blowing line back to tank with air compressor. keep wondering if line comes from bottom of tank or out the top? any help??? thanks
  • Did you think it a little strange when you installed the new pump and had no gravity flow out of the tank ?
    Good you got it going.

100 lbs air pressure dint do it, but 45 lbs water pressure did ??
That doesn't sound right, but what ever worked.

But I think I would install a sureflo inlet filter at the pump,....mite save you some pump trouble down the line.
  • GOT IT FIXED and here was problem unhooked the inlet line at pump and hooked a garden hose to it removed the water fill cap on side of trailer then turned water on full . it back filled the tank till it came pouring out the outside fill then two or three big black insects came floating out looked maybe like bumble bees. earlier i had used a air compressor to blow back but that did not work the water was the answer it filled it using hydaulics to float them out.
  • Check the inlet filter ... in my rig the filter got clogged up with small plastic shavings that were on the bottom of the FW tank probably left over from original install. Pump will run but won't draw water when that filter gets mucked up.
  • no i had no water before .and seems the line and tank are entumbed no easy way to tank or line to check. not from inside or outside. its between flooring and metal bottom revited. thanks
  • It may have air in the line and is not priming. If you have any winterizing valves try opening them to get gravity to run some water out. On my RV I have had to use a garden hose to force water into one of the lines via a winterizing valve.
  • The first thing I would do is remove the new pump and do a bench test. If the piping and tankage worked before you replaced the pump, there is no reason to think it shouldn't work now.

The line from the water tank to the pump must come out from the bottom of the tank, or from a fitting at the side of the tank right near the bottom.

You have a line that goes into the inlet side of the pump. That line comes from the outlet of the fresh water tank. If the tank has water in it, remove that line, and gravity should cause water to flow out of the tank through that line.

If things were moved around during the pump installation, any line that is made of flexible hose may have kinked.
