Since you have a Class C I suspect your Generator has an outlet in the electrical cord storage area. The cord needs to be plugged into the outlet to allow the generator to supply 120v AC and power the converter/charger to supply 12v DC and charge the batteries. That would mean you have no transfer switch.
If no outlet box there, then the transfer switch could be the problem.
For the first problem, did you remember to use the battery-disconnect switch to connect batteries to the 12v DC circuit?
