No water from fresh water tank

Maybe I am overlooking something simple, but when I turn on the pump for fresh water on a 2016 Winnebago View 24G I get very little to no flow and no pressure. I took the pump input and hooked a tube into a bucket of water and ran a tube out. Good flow and when the output was capped off the pressure switch worked. No signs of leak anywhere. Any suggestions?

  • Thanks for the help. The winterizing valve was not positioned correctly and the check valve to the city water line leaked. Works fine now.

Just went thru a similar issue with my camping friend. Little to no water coming out of any of the faucets and when water did come out it was full of air and the water pump was surging like crazy and took a long time to shut off.
First thought was the water pump itself and ordered a new one. No change in the issue,
I then realized that since I was getting air mixed in with what ever water was coming out of the faucet, the problem had to be on the suction side of the water pump.
What I did was connect a hose directly to the suction side of the water pump and the other end of the hose went into a 5 gallon bucket of water.- thus eliminating the filter - 3 way winterizing valve - and the suction line coming out the water tank.
Presto - water flowed out like its suppose to and no more air mixed in.
The culprit was the 3 way winterizing valve itself. Even though the valve was correctly set to suck water from the tank, something internally cracked and it was sucking from the open side with the 2 ft hose you would use to winterize the R/V.
Put new 3 way by-pass valve and all is good

  • The discharge point at the water tank may have a screen inside the tank that is partially plugged. Some systems do have the screen to filter any material from reaching the pump and cause greater problems. Older water tanks will develop a film on it's inside walls that floats but when a tank is pumped dry or almost dry the film is drawn to the discharge point. Even religiously sanitizing the tank on a regular basis will not desolve the build up. Emptying the tank and removing the discharge fitting, hopfully with the tank in it's mounted position, will bring with it the screen and much of the build up of material. Well...after I posted this response I belatedly noticed that the unit is a 2016 model year. I went back and edited this post with the last couple sentences. So much for my insight.
  • Is this on all faucets? Shower, bathroom, kitchen.

If just one then take the nozzle off and try cleaning it.

Do you have a winterizing valve/tube in there? If so, is the valve turned the correct way?

Disconnect the input from pump and see if yo can suck it in by mouth. You don't have to swallow, just to see if water comes up the hose easily. It's a potable water anyway.
