Some gas absorption fridges are equipped with an optional cooling fan, some aren't. My current Dometic DM2652 doesn't have one nor does it seem to need it but I've owned Norcolds in the past that were equipped with a fan. These are thermostatically controlled fans and will turn on/off as needed and although I'd be sure that's what you're hearing if you feel it's excessively noisy then have your dealer take a look, 'though obviously he needs to run it for a long enough period of time and under conditions that would trigger the fan to come on. As for "loud" I suppose that's in the eye of the beholder ... personally it's never bothered me as it's always been just loud enough to ascertain when it's running and when it isn't. Possibly you have a fan with a bad bearing but obviously your dealer can only determine that if the fan actually comes on.
