Noisy Heat Pump

The heat pump in our Winnebago Class C MH has been quiet-running in the past, but we turned it on today and noticed it has a loud, roaring noise. It seems to be doing fine as far as putting out warm air. Any ideas what the problem is?

  • You need to state year and Model of RV and the Brand and model of the Heat Pump. Winne usually has RVP Heat Pumps depending on the year. Click this link and look at this specific outer top shroud. IF you have this model, DO NOT RUN THE HEAT PUMP AT ALL. This model has a problem with the Condensor Motor and Fan blade breaking loose and then full shut down and no operation. The noise you state is the noise these models make when they are in the process of failing. Doug

  • Update on the heat pump issue. The fan runs quiet when heat pump is off, but the loud, vibrating noise begins when heat pump is on. We cleaned inside air filters and when cover was off we noticed the noise seems to come from the closed metal box inside the opening. The heat pump is doing its job as far as warming the RV, but it's much louder than ever before. Are we doing more damage by having it on?
