Norcold frig light question

I have a Norcold model N821L frig that the inside light bracket is broken. The clip that hold the GE 214-2 bulb is broken. I have two questions, can I replace the factory light with a led light and is there a switch that turns the light on when the door is open, or is the light on all the time. If possible, I would hard wire an LED light to replace the broken bracket.

Thanks,

  • Changed mine out to a LED like This One

Panel slips snugly in plastic lens and when you open that door you better have your sunglasses on

Nothing hides in there ever again !!
  • If you use blue LEDs you can get an imagined 10 degree drop in interior temps :)
  • Changed mine to an LED
Same, or maybe bit more light output
VASTLY reduced heat output - see no need to add extra heat to the frig
Put your finger on the incandescent bulb after 30 seconds of being on
Ebay has the LED for about a $1.00 each
  • On that model the switch is a magnetic reed switch, with a magnet in the door, and the switch is in the control panel. The light is actually controlled by the main circuit board, though.
  • MOST do have a switch that turns the light off with the door closed.
  • get the new bracket dont worry about a led how much is it really on that part is like 1o bucks or less
