norcold refrigerator

Can anyone tell me what the temp should be inside the fridge while on 120v and temp slide switch on 5. We had the camper just off level and it seemed warm to the touch. After getting a perfect center on the level, it was cooler but never got cold. This was the first trip in our new camper and I'm not sure if I'm expecting to much.
  • On my 1200 at 90 degrees external on 120v the fridge is at 34 and freezer is -1 to +1 on #5
This with a replacement Helium replacement cooling unit
  • Most of the time
They get cold faster using lp for cooling
Especially if you are using 20 amp shore power and running the roof a/C

The fridge electric heating element will not work well if it did not have full voltage
  • Click this link for the manual for the Norcold 6 and 8 cu. ft. RV refrigerators.

The numbered switch setting makes the refrigerator colder or warmer, not a specific temperature. We always have left ours on "3" and the freezer is usually about 5 deg. F and the fridge section between about 34 and 40 deg. F.

How long it takes to cool to those temperatures depends on how warm the refrigerator was before being turned on. On a hot day, 24 hours is possible, less time on a cool day.
  • It will need at least 24 hrs to get cold. The freezer gets cold first, then the frig starts to cool. Don't have that model of Norcold so don't know what temp switch 5 would be. If you haven't let it run long enough, try that first. Also it will cook faster if you have some already frozen and cold foods or beverages to put in it. Empty takes a lot longer.
