Norcold water tray

The water catch tray in our Norcold refrig is all iced up. The refrig is working great. Is this normal to have ice form in the refrig compartment? It is a 2008 model and we are seasonal this year and the refrig had been running nonstop since Mat 1, I have the temp set at 7, thanks in advance for you input. Mike

  • I cleaned the tray and drain with bleach. Then when I went to clean the tube outside behind the panel I discovered that there was still a small black plug at the end of the tube put there by the manufacturer. Problem solved.
  • My drain does not function properly. I believe the drain tube has been crimped. Don't want to remove the frig so I use a battery bulb to suck the water through the drain tube. If I don't do this, it will ice up. Only cure then is to remove the shelves and the catch tray for ice removal.
  • I had mine to ice up once. The drain tube outside had become clogged and the water could not drain when the ref. went thru the defrost cycle. Pull the end off the drain hose and make sure its clear. It gets clogged with algae and other stuff. I think I read somewhere its good to put a little Clorox in the tray to help keep the tube clean.
