Nordic Rebuilt RV Fridge Cooling Units

Anyone had any experience with Nordic remanufactured cooling units for Norcold fridges ? Rebuilt and sold out of Arizona, I think. At $600 / $700 each, does not sound like a bad deal. But......is a new Norcold unit a better idea at twice the cost ?
  • I just replaced my Norcold with a new Amish built. They did not have a remanny for mine but if they had I would get the new one.

I don't know what they replace vs re use but I don't want to do that again if I don't have to.

BTW the new one works better than the OEM unit.
  • Big Katuna: Did the new Amish eliminate the need for the Norcold fire fix (heat sensor switch ) ?

Go with the Amish and there is NO Norcold recall available on the aftermarket cooling units. The aftermarket(Amish also) do not have overtemp kits. You CAN buy that new kit that works on all RV absorbsion refers. Doug
  • I had the Amish unit installed on my Norcold 1200 at the factory in Shepshewana Indiana. Cost $1200 all in with new fans etc. Added the internal fan kit and the fridge now operates better than many residential units I have had.
I watched the fabrication of these units and was very impressed with the quality. Go to www.coolingunit.com" and call David force there if you have questions. He is very customer focused.

  • He also sells a halon automatic fire extinguisher you can mount behind the fridge.
  • Bought the new Amish unit and replaced myself on my Dometic and it works 3x better than OEM.
