use with charger ... with out external power supply
your converter is A charger
it will be powered by your batteries, while reading discharge
and the converter will supply power while charging
i bought the 200a version because of my 1250w inverter
i love this thing
right now i'm reading 13.99v 4.7amp charge and full 100% charged
don't forget to set AH capacity at 220~240 depending on your batteries
charge them all the way up then set the AMP Hr count ,
then it will show 100% full and count down during discharge
