If all I am ever gonna run is a 24 inch TV , how large of an inverter am I a gonna need ?

Look at the power plate on the TV in question. Get an inverter at least 70 per cent of this for TV alone. If you have other devices such as DVD player add it's wattage.
My guess it would be around 300 watts total for continuous rating of inverter.
