Well, it does cost something to have your name put on it. A couple of cents per unit. If you wanted to market that meter, the manufactuer could put your name on it too. Wanderer sounds like a Good Brand. Ain't that something. Like they say "Buyer beware"

While the clamp-on meter picture looks the same, did the specifications for each read out the same?

You did not mention specifications for: range, accuracy, etc. The circuitry inside may be less quality.

Never heard of either.

From the pictures there is some small difference between the two on either side of the clamp along the rib. Whether that difference relates to something worth nearly double the price is not obvious.

And yes, you do pay more for a "brand name".

Edit: after looking at blown up pictures of each the difference in appearance is only due to different angles.

I would not trust either without being able to download a manual to get real information on accuracy for ranges used by the meters.

My Sears unit came with all the needed information to make an intelligent decision. It also does more than either model shown.

The Triplett was a great meter until the hurricane got to it. <1% error at 200 amperes DC. I had issues with the 9-volt battery dying yearly, but now that I have lithium 9 volt batteries that may be a thing of the past.

I want a meter that speaks. Shouts actually. "FOURTEEN POINT THREE FOUR VOLTS DC!" May get a little hairy with voltage changes though...

My Sears inductive ammeter ended up as a rear wheel chock for a few seconds. If you catch my drift...
