2" Receiver to 3" Now What

I wonder if the equalizer shank is the same? I am dealing with the same issue.

My sleeve was also in the storage bin under one of the back seats.

You will probably have to buy a new shank, as the 2500 sits higher, meaning the trailer nose will sit higher if your hitch was set up for a 1500.

You're not the only one. I lost one.... I think I left it in the receiver after taking out the pin (sure hope there was no one behind me when it came out). Luckily, didn't find the one under the rear seat right away so I bought one.... and am now using the one from under the rear seat :)

I lost one that i forgot to take out when I took the hitch out ...I painted the new one red....that way you can see it sticking out a bit fron the receiver and put it away with the hitch...

if you're buying the 2500 new, it'll be included.

Same here and you can also get them at Walmart if you lose it (don't ask how I know).

Sleeve was under rear seat on my truck too. And, correct, its 2 1/2 in vs 2 in. Sleeve works alright, not an issue. Loose it may move or rattle, but when you put a load on it, its fine. Enjoy!

If you are going to diesel, then I recommend the 3500. But if 6.4L, then 2500 with coil springs would provide a good compromise on ride and payload. If you have dreams of towing a 5th wheel RV, then 2250 pounds of payload will be very limiting.

Anyway, I'd probably use this adapter with the little flange to stop from inserting too far assuming your truck does'nt come with an adapter. Yes, always use the adapter with any 2" square draw bar/shank.

I have never seen or heard of a 3" receiver. They come in 2.5 x 2.5. Why not just stay with the Class V 2.5 that is on the Dodge? I use a 14K lb Ball on mine. A little margin never hurts.

Different rear suspension system on Ram 2500 vs. 3500. Also, more $$ and much harder to find a 3500.

Price difference is about a grand or so and there are one tons all over creation.

Just upped from 2500 to 3500 and wouldn't have bought the 2500 back in 2004 if I'd had half a brain.
