Using a heater like that I want to ask what altitude are you camping at?
Thank you. The reason I asked is unvented heaters burn less efficiently at higher altitudes and I think it is around 7000 ft that the o2 sensor will shut off the heater. I camp at 9-10,000 ft and they are a real no no up there as I already found out.
Wet camping at those temps in a 3 season rig is going to take a lot of planning prep and effort. Even with our larger battery bank I doubt I could keep the tank heaters, heated tape and furnace going all night. Even if I could I'd need a long run of the generator each day to bring the batteries back up. On a sunny day the solar might keep up with the daytime usage but in the winter it isn't dependable. Our best bet would be to leave the rig winterized, bag the toilet and use 5 gal water bottles in a dispenser. That way the batteries would stand a chance at keeping us going over night even though we would go through a lot of propane.
