What they all said sadly.
Key word is relative. They see the big blades on the plug and want to wire it for 220.
I actually paid an electrician that did the same thing.
From experience:
Check the convertor first. My spike blew a hole thru one of the capacitors but it continued to work by putting out TOO much voltage boiling the batteries so open it up and test it.
Check the gfi second by 'opening' the box and checking the wires. I didn't open up the box just flipped it back on and a year later kept smelling a faint smell of burning wires. The spike did hit the wires but not enough to stop it from working but just enough to keep it dangerously smouldering behind the wall.
Then there will be all the appliances. Micro, AC, Fridge, TV's.
Th average cost of an oops of voltage in an RV is usually around $2,500 is it crisps the ac also. If you smelled smoke that most likely was the ac.
Sorry for you misadventure but do check everything and check it again. I did not and had additional problems down the road from the surge that could have been deadly.
