All may not be lost after all, thanks to Newman Fulltimer!!!
This kind person shared his knowledge with us and helped us identify our issues.
His knowledge and expertise is priceless and we so appreciate him taking the time.
Minimal damage was identified giving us hope relieving our anxiety.
At this point, our replacements will be the converter and micro. Other potential appliance damage averted.
We have learned a valuable lesson....BUY A SURGE PROTECTOR BEFORE PLUGGING INTO ANY AMP SERVICE, EVEN YOUR OWN HOME.
Thanks again Newman...promise to look you up when coming through Louisiana.
Glad everything seems to be working out, but your above post is very confusing at least to me:h
I read newman fulltimer's one other one sentence post and sure didn't get all that shared knowledge and expertise that you appeared to have gotten. Maybe it was done by PM, but still I didn't see much new in what newman fulltimer's post said and missed compeletly how what he said saved anything:S
I'm not too sure just how much protection a simple surge protector would provide in this particular situation.
I disagree with the suggestion of what was learned here and I think the real lesson is that the OP would have been much better served had he/she taken to heart the specific warning about this potential wiring issue that was identified over 4 months ago in
THIS THREAD back then by RoyB in his post in that thread. Heeding RoyB's warning back then would have prevented this issue being discussed here from ever happening in the first place. IMO that is the REAL LESSON LEARNED.
