the light and hour meter run by 12V. Sounds like 12V is intermittent getting to inside control panel. Could be a loose or broken wire or bad factory crimp on a connector. Take a meter, check the control panel at the genny while running to see what color of the wire is that is carrying the 12V. The wiring in the genny itself will probably be all white, an Onan special. But my remote uses different colors for the wires, just see what color should be leaving with 12V on it to get to the inside control panel.
