USA bearings are good, made in POLAND bearings are good, as are Japanese and Korean bearings. But Chinese bearings are highly suspect. I would positively not try to use a shielded bearing in place of a sealed bearing. If the environment is dirty, smear a gob of # 2 chassis grease on each side of of the bearing. As stupid as this sounds, it is a freakin' miracle for bearings that suffer a horribly dirty environment.
Never forget the supplier who tried to pawn off a thousand 6203 cut price bearings on me in 1989. "They're a little rough at first but they smooth out". Clearly stamped on the plastic seal was "USSR"
