You really should utilize a step by step troubleshooting guide for this.
It would be helpful to know if the genset has an automatic operation module or optional exercise module that perhaps has been defeated (until now).
Having the fuel pump energize versus having the engine actually crank over by itself are two different colored horses. Darn near impossible to ESP diagnose your symptoms.
