Onan marquis 5000

We have a 96 Bounder. Recently the genie wouldn't start. When you try to start it , it trips the battery disconnect. then of course the lights, water pump etc don't work. reset the battery disconnect, everything works again, until you try to start the genie. if you use the start button on the genie, it does the same thing. you can hear a click in the panel. anyone have an idea whats going on ? John
BTW this is an Onan marquis 5000
  • Must be quite a draw on the genny to do that. Is the starter frozen? Try starting the rig so that the engine is runnning. Turn off all electric items including A/C and fridge Can you start the genny or does it still pop the disconnect. If it pops the disconnect then either the disconnect defective or the starter or solenoid has grounded out causing a dead short.
