OK.. today I ripped my gen. apart and here's what I came up with.. Found 12Volts going into Controller/inverter. Was the only black wire within the white wires going into the inverter. To be exact the voltage was 12.93. I then followed the voltage to the gen.switch the voltage there was 11.98. As soon as I pushed the switch the voltage began dropping weather I was holding the switch or not it just kept dropping all the way down to 8.45V..HMMM?? If I would leave it alone for a while it would jump back up to 11.98v. But the voltage going into the inverter stayed at 12.98 regardless of the the voltage coming out of the inverter was.. So, my diagnostics is. "Controller/inverter"" Good voltage going into inverter poor voltage coming out of inverter. So somewhere in the inverter we are loosing voltage big time.. This would give me the #46 code for low voltage. Now, my question is does anyone know the part # for the controller/inverter for a Onan quiet diesel 7.5KW model #7.5HDKAJ11451F.. Can anyone find that part # for me so when I call Onan I can just give them the part # instead of having to explain the whole thing to them.. Thanks.. If anyone has any other suggestions I would be more than happy to hear from them...Thanks
Sounds like you have been busy. I can't help you with expected results within the unit but I can't help but wonder why any of this would prevent the generator from cranking. Just out of curiosity, what does the input 12 volts to the unit drop to when you push the start switch. Measure right at the input terminals on the back of the genny and have someone push the start switch. I helped fellow a fellow who had a problem similar to yours. The fault was the other end of the cable near the battery compartment. Can't remember the fault code but once we got a solid connection it fired up.
Good luck and be safe.
