There are two forms of "safeties" for ignition type LPG gensets. One is electrical like yours, the second is a vacuum safety which opens when sufficient vacuum is sensed between the carburetor and the engine. Cranking the engine is enough vacuum to let fuel through. The electrical variety needs to sense an engine stall and shut the fuel off.
