Home emergency generator installations
When I worked on gensets I saw too many installations where the licensed electrician knew zero.
Close attention must be paid to in rush amps and the vastly over rated capability of the generator.
Overloads cause the gen voltage regulator to FORCE FIELD the rotor. This is an overload that will fail the regulator and after a while the regulator burns out.
The electrician then blames the generator manufacturer. I used to thermal scan the open frame regulator finals to ensure against field overload
