Onan starts and dies, throws Code 3

We hit a heat wave and had to run our generator an Onan (HGJAB901A), it quit and threw a Code I believed was "Low Oil Pressure", I assumed it was due to low oil level and refilled. Now it just starts, runs for 10 or 20 seconds and dies and throws a code 3. I didn't have the manual with me yesterday when I refilled the crankcase and tried to start so I forgot how to check for the second level code.

I'll go back maybe tomorrow but is there a reset or does the low pressure limit switch automatically reset if it shut off due to low level?

Yes I have searched to forums but to no avail, if anyone searches and finds a similar post, please include the search wording used.

  • Is yours one of the models that code 3 just means you have to check for the code.
  • Welcome to the club having RV generator problem ;)
On my Generac oil pressure switch is open under pressure and those switches are known to malfunction.
But disconnecting the wire will keep the generator running.
