I have a 2010 Cougar Keystone 29FKS. Yesterday, out of the clear blue sky, my TV and satellite box just shut off. I checked all my breakers...everything seemed fine. Then I noticed my alarm clock in the bedroom area was off...come to find out the 2 outlets in the bedroom area and the 2 outlets on the wall next to the bathroom no longer work; however the GFCI outlet in the bathroom between the living room area and the bedroom area works. Any ideas? I live in this full time...I work in the oilfields in North Dakota and need everything operational as much as possible!

When you 'checked all my breakers...everything seemed fine'--how did you check them?Did you turn them to OFF and then reset back to ON?Also.......check the wires on breaker and make sure they are tight/making good contact.And you might look around for another GFCI outlet.....check if tripped.Tripped GFCIs, tripped circuit breakers, loose wire on breaker AND one other possibility. A loose wire in an outlet upstream of those that aren't working. Requires identifying the suspect outlet....pulling it and checking the wires for proper connections.RV outlets are cheap design.....they use a split-prong that the wires clip/push into vs hardwired/screwed or even a good push contact like residential outlets.They wire the outlets in a daisy chain string..if wire works loose (easy to do) then all outlets downstream stop working.

Um, yes, I turned the breakers on/off (sorry I wasn't more explicit when I said I checked them). I've searched high and low for a second GFCI...haven't found one...so I guess my next thing is to check for the loose wires, specifically on the outlets I'm having trouble with. Thanks...I was afraid I had to do that, although it's much better for ME to do that than to have to pay an astronomical price to someone else to do the same thing.

Did you check the ckt breaker on the inverter? Some of your ckts run through the inverter, not the main breaker panel.

You may want to check for an additional GFCI device in back of the fridge, in the bathroom, under/over the kitchen counter, or on the exterior of the trailer (near an outside kitchen).

Looking at what you have, your Travel Trailer more than likely does NOT have an inverter. These companies usually wire things up in a chain. The first outlet on the chain is usually the GFCI outlet. That way, all other outlets past that are protected by the GFCI. Now, you may have 2 circuits of outlets. So, there could be a 2nd GFCI in your camper. It may be behind the refrigerator panel. These companies love to hide stuff that may need to be changed or reset.

An inverter is a separate box that converts 12v to 120v.
You may or may not have one.

Maybe someone can help you.

Okay, now I'll show my massive IGNORANCE. Inverter? Isn't that the fuse/breaker box in the trailer? If so, I've flipped those switches so many times I hate to think of it. I even went to the trouble of pulling the individual fuses and checking them.

You might have a tripped breaker on your inverter itself.

GFI would be my guess. And not always in the obvious places. Do you have an inverter? Ours has two switches on it and when one flips, everything on our passenger side goes out. Easy fix. . . just flip the switch. It normally happens when we are running "extras" like my hair dryer and the toaster at the same time, etc. LOL

I only WISH I had 50 amp service...my RV's only 30 amp.

I considered cycling at the post but didn't know if it'd do any good...guess I can try when I get home this morning.

At the risk of stating something obvious, if you have a 50 amp service could one leg of the 50 amp be off at the post receptacle? Did you cycle that breaker, and the main breaker on your electrical panel?

Thanks...I did check over the kitchen counter but it never dawned on me to look under/behind anything. The only outlet I found on the exterior was by the door...I did a walk around and didn't see anything else, but that doesn't mean I didn't miss it! When I get home I'll check in all the less obvious places...and thanks so much for the suggestions. This is my first experience with an RV, let alone living in it.
