Depending on a person's mechanical skills and knowledge, less harm to the bearings and seal may result using the EZ Lube System.
I think just the opposite is probably true. One has to understand and be able to correctly use the EZ-lube system to prevent issues and get it's intended benefits.

Really? I, personally, know very few people who have ever disassembled a brake drum, removed the seal and bearings, and repacked the bearing. It's just not done very much.
I've read accounts on this forum of issues with brakes and axles after having the hubs serviced by a supposedly well trained staff at a business that does it on a regular basis.
In Pennsylvania, a state inspection station yanks off one hub from each axle to measure and inspect the brakes. That means in a two year time span each and every drum braked trailer in the state has had all hubs messed with and bearing adjustments done by someone. I could write a book about the fine workmanship.
Now that said, the reason for mandatory inspection is because of those that do little or nothing to keep their equipment in good repair. Ignorance is not bliss.
