How much solar would I need to install at home to take car of my own car?
That's kind of like asking how much does dinner cost at a restaurant.
At McDonalds or Chez Foo-Foo? Hamburger or Filet Mignon? How hungry are you?
But before you get to "how much?" you need to think about 'how?".
If the car is your ride to work (or elsewhere) it's generally not at home during the sunny part of the day when the solar is generating power. Now you need a storage facility, Tesla PowerWall(s) or other battery bank.
In big round crayon numbers, in the US average climate, you'll currently need a 5 kW solar setup at about $20k after rebates,
about $7k for 2 PowerWall units, maybe $3k for incidentals and such, so around $30k in total.
