Why are the lights dim?
Everyone just got home dear
As an engineer papered to work on grid systems I can comment that grid analysis is difficult and challenging. PEAK POWER DEMAND and sufficient redundancy is a NO OPTION must have.
Domestic timers, scheduled on a rolling time basis will be an ABSOLUTE must-have. But then what about unscheduled distribution failures? Some comments I read here are based on unreality.
Let's have some fun. A dedicated home system for a TESLA. How many panels and how many batteries would it need to nurse the Tesla when the automobile comes home from work? By 2018 standards offer a guess at the cost of such a system. This does not include a 2nd car nor an RV.
Sorry about busting dreams. Reality does that :(
Then TIMES that system for millions upon millions of autos trucks and RVs.
