IMHO, electric cars are only a choice for drivers when the quantity of electric cars remains small. Current owners are reaping the temporary rewards from this. Maybe the rest of us will be able to do our part for Mother Earth when hydrogen fuel cells - or some other final solution - is ready for prime time.
That being said, perhaps point-of-use solar panels with way higher efficiency than the current ones could somehow make electric vehicles viable for us all.
