For sure, but here in the Ontario provincial parks genset use just doesn't seem to be all that common - thankfully.

So ..... in Ontario how does one drycamp for a week in January in the woods without a generator?
The vast majority of parks here in Ontario are closed during the winter for camping. The few parks that are open for camping restrict it to electric sites, along with electric sites offered for more formally arranged winter camping programs, so in both cases there's no need for a genset. I can't say that "no one" dry camps during the winter but I can't think of anyone I know that does in January when it's often - 20C here in Ontario.
I don't get how one can be ready to camp anywhere anytime unless they have a generator along that at least occasionally gets used. :h
I can likewise only think of 3 friends I know who own a genset for camping. I tried myself but found genset use was so infrequent I got tired of dragging it around and sold it. At my age the 50 lb weight of a 2K genset didn't impress me either, which is why I once considered a much lighter 1K, but it's too small to also run my house furnace in cases where we lose power during the winter so I've since concluded that owning a genset is for me pointless.
