Less wire to do the 6s in series first?
You can switch ends of the "12s" to put both the terminals to charge/load in front if it is all in a compartment where you can't get at the back terminals (make the parallel links an X instead of = )
If you have an inverter with two pos and two neg, you can run one to each 12 so the inverter wires also act as the parallel links. (hoping that each 12 provides about half the load)
A Trimetric shunt means a small extra length of wire on the neg side but that can't be helped.
