We have had Dish pay as you go for years.
Have never had a problem with customer service. Any time we are out of our home area, I have called, gave our current location, told them to change our service address, and shortly after had network channels from the nearest large city. Some say on line chat works even better.
Have never had a problem with reception using our Tailgater and vip211k receiver sitting on the ground. Occasionally have to find a "hole" thru the trees to get signal. But that would apply on the roof also.
If you sign up, do not agree to automatic monthly charge to your credit card. Call each month to renew for another month. That is where a lot of people have a problem with continued monthly charges. If you do not intend to use the service for the next month or two or more, simply do not call and renew. They will automatically suspend your service. When ready to restart, simply call (or chat) and tell them to restart your service. Works like a charm. With this procedure, they will probably send reminders you are due a payment to continue your service, maybe even mention a late fee. Simply ignore those until you are actually ready to restart. I have let mine ride idle for nearly a year before with no problem restarting. And no extra fees.
