Pay as you go satellite

Back when we were using the Pay As You Go option, all we did when we didn't need the service for the next month was ignore the bill and any follow up bills. When we wanted to restart the service we just called and paid for the next month. Technically, we're still on that plan, but we never shut it off now anyway so it doesn't matter.

Back in late 2013, I read a lot and liked what I read. I have used DISH Pay-As-You-Go since Jan 2014.

Customer service is the worst reception is not always good unless you put the tailgater on top of the RV. It says pay as you go but people are still getting billed monthly and can't get dish to remove the amount due even though it was not authorized.

Well my experience has much better, but have had some issues. We now full time so we don't turn on and off.
We have great reception both SD and HD, be the dish be on the ground or roof, I prefer the roof just. Ecause it is out of the way.
Turning on and off was a bit tricky, starting is easy and can be done on line. Turning off requires a call to customer service, and state you want to "Cancel" your service, you don't want to pause or suspend it as they will charge you about $5 a month. Then next time you start it up you pay what you used that last time. Dish need a full month of payment on your account before resuming service, so if you used it a week last time you need to pay the cost of one weeks service.
I never paid any mailed bill ever! I was told in the beginning if I was turning on and off the mailed bill would never be correct!

Well with all the fire's in Oregon and Washington we changed our plans. So we've been up in Burney falls area camping and catching more trout then ever. Well my wife is I only caught one I lost count how many she caught. Anyway I called dish last week and activated my pathway x2 and the 2 wally receiverso, we were staying at a rv park in Weed California. So the lady asked for my home address in the north Bay area, she said like some of you that I wouldn't be able to watch different channels in the bedroom. So about 10 minutes later I had over 200 channels in the living room. I thanked her and hung up, I then ran a cable from bedroom receiver to the pathway and I followed the promts and both tvs work perfectly on any channel. The next day we moved 50 miles to a dry camp near the McCloud river with a different zip code . We Camped in the middle of tall pines it took longer to get a signal. But we've been here 6 days and I never called dish about my move and I still get all my local channels from the bay area and we get local channels from Oregon. I couldn't be happier with this system and we have had no problems watching different channels at the same time. And it uses very little power. Well wereceived off for another day of fishing, next time I'm bringing my smoker for the trout.

As Salti said, Bill is correct that you will not get your "home" local channels once you leave the spot beam footprint. You also won't get the OTA locals through the Wally's unless you bought the optional USB OTA adapter. You can still get the OTA locals direct to the TV of course. And you will still get all of the non-spot beamed (CONUS beamed) programming in your package as usual.

Bill.Satellite is absolutely correct three posts up.

Did I interpret your meaning correctly?

Example:

You leave your home in Cleveland and drive to San Diego.

You do not tell Dish anything about your leaving Cleveland.

While in San Diego you can still view some San Diego local channels OTA - Over The Air - Not from any Satellite.

Thats what the TECH guy told me. Could be wrong. Just what the Winegard tech said.

You CANNOT get ANY Network programming if you leave the "spot beam" that encompasses your local broadcast area unless you call Dish and give them the new address (service address only, do not change the billing address). That spot beam can be 200 to 400 or more miles wide but once you are outside you will get exactly nothing.
When you are setup for 1 satellite, you will be able to watch any programming you like on the main receiver but the 2nd receiver will only receive programming that is being broadcast from the satellites selected by the main receiver.
If you select the 2 receiver option then you can only lock onto the 72.7 satellite which does not have much of a signal in the West but should be OK if you are East of New Mexico. The good news about 72.7 is that both receivers can watch any channel without restriction. The bad news is that NO NETWORK programming is available on 72.7.

Ok I received the 2 wally receivers Sunday night, and the Pathway X2 came last night. So I did a quick hook up in the driveway, It didn't seem to want to stop searching for a satellite but it wouldn't stop looking even though it had clear southern exsposure. So I called it quits for the night. Today I took both wally receivers and a tv and the pathway out to my back deck that looks at 80 acres of field and oaks. Set it up again, following all the prompts. I would choose 2 receivers every time, it would not work. So I called Winegard and they walked me through the set up. When I got to the option of how many receivers 1 or 2 the guy said choose 1, I said I have 2 he said doesn't matter it's the only way it will allow you to set up?? Who knew? Bottom line is it works great. I didn't have time to even try to run through the Satellite connections on the coach. I just used the 2 25' coax that came with the Pathway, and ran directly through to the boxes and then a HDMI to the TV'S. One thing I don't like is the Pathway has 2 coax hook ups for two TV'S, one is marked MAIN (Living Room) and the other one says Sec. (Bedroom) The main is the only cable that powers the antennia. So if you want to watch tv in the bedroom you have to have to power on the Main or living room receiver. Not a good option. So I thought about sending back one of the Wallys and just use the living room receiver, and run another cable to the BR. TV and just use the one box. But I decided to keep both. I've got everything stowed away now, to busy to play with it more right now, but will be up on our property in northern Wa. for 5 or 6 weeks in late August and I'll give a better report when we get back. One thing I'll say I bought the Pathway X2 on Amazon it was "USED" I've never done that before with electroncs, but I was able to call the seller and he gave a great explanation of how he gets returns from DISH and resells them. 100% positive feed back And I saved $175.00. So anyway mine was returned to DISH because the package was damaged and their were light scratches. Well when it came yesterday the package looked like it was run over by a train. But you have to really look hard to find a scratch. Just thought I would throw it out there for you. Bottom line is I really like the picture and it is easy to use After initial set up. Oh last thing, this is the first pathway X2 I've ever seen except in pictures, I knew the Specs. size but it's big. I've got alot of room on my side of the closet, so I guess thats where it will ride. I'll report how it worked after my trip.
