PD9245 Charger/Converter & AGM's

Hello. My Lance camper has the Progressive Dynamics DP9245 charger/converter in it and I now have (2) group 31 Diehard Platnum AGM's. I leave the camper plugged in at home so the PD9245 is always on. Is the PD9245 a good 24/7 charging system for these batteries?
  • Dia hard platinums are Odyssey
    Odyssey when deeply cycled specify 40 amps bulk charge per 100Ah of capacity, until 14.7v is reached and then hold 14.7 for more 4 hours.

    The PD will not be ideal, but many batteries are treated worse
  • My 8a24M Deka has a temp/volts chart in the manual.

    Generally, AGM mfgrs strongly advise using temperature compensation chargers that increase charging volts at lower battery temps and conversely lower charging volts at higher battery temps. Battery life can be affected by over/under charging.

    If your charger has a battery type selection, but not any temp comp, you might choose a battery type that best approximates this adjustment on a seasonal basis. I switch my solar controller between sealed(14.1V) and flooded(14.4) by using 14.1V during the hottest summer months when my batteries reach up to 110F.

    HTH;

  • There is no difference in charging tween AGM and LA batts. All 3-4 stage converters are designed to handle either.
