Unlike some I'm not convinced a battery low on water can't recover.
(Though I do not think it will recover 100%)
I am convinced a starting battery is not the best choice for house service.
WHY: Well, it comes down to not capacity, Except for OPTIMA which has only about 60% of other batteries capacity, The capacity of a "Size" Starting battery is the same as the capacity of a "Same size" Deep cycle, and it does not matter (more than 10%) if it's Flooded, Maintenance free or AGM. they are nearly identical capacity wise.
But DEEP CYCLE are designed to recover from 50 percent discharge (or more claim some) and Starting is not.
